This command is used to reset the password on a NickServ account. You should only use this command for your own account, as an email is sent to the user to confirm the address change. Anyone using this command on accounts they do not own will be considered to be attempting to access nicknames that they do not own, a terms of service violation.
This command accepts 2 arguments, the nickname whose password you have forgotten, and the email address to send the confirmation mail to. This address must match the address that services is registered with. For this reason, it is important that you do not register with a temporary email address, or a shared email address used by several people. Network staff do not have access to recover NickServ passwords and passwords will never be reset manually for users.
To reset the password on nick1 with the email address [email protected], use this command:
/msg NickServ resetpass nick1 [email protected]
