Registering with NickServ
Registering with NickServ is an easy, simple process. First, you need to pick a nick name that isn't already registered. If you have a nick name on IRC right now, then you have probably already done this. If you have the nick name you want to register, then you can issue this command to begin the process:
/msg NickServ <password> <email address>
Three important things to note here. One, you must have a valid email address. A confirmation email is sent to you and you must answer it for your registration to be confirmed. You have 24 hours to do this. Two, your nickname is not case sensitive, but your services password is. You will need to enter it exactly as you enter it here to identify to your account. Last, you must have been using the nick for at least 30 seconds before you can register it. If you have been reading this the whole time, then that is probably long enough and you should be able to register now.
If you've made a mistake with your email, you can cancel your registration with the following command:
/msg NickServ DROP <nickname>
You can then re-issue the registration command with the proper e-mail address.
